so i just came back from saigon n it was great. i wont put the pictures that i snapped in saigon coz u can take a look at them on facebook. what i want to write about is the conclusion that i can summarize during my 4 days n 3 nights stay in saigon n how the stay has changed my view n perspective on certain things that i think might be intriguing enough for people to ponder back what they have done and do in this world..so here goes...
we (9 people only including my parents' friends n i am the youngest one) arrived there around 2 pm n were picked up by our tour guide named sa ki ah (i dont know how the spelling of his name goes like but the pronunciation is just like that). we were tired of course but excited enough to sightsee the Saigon city (now is known as Ho Chi Minh). jalan kat sane sgt sibuk n bising sebab diorg guna motor as the main mean of transportation. diorg ckp klu naik motor romantik..hahahh. whatever. there, i could see that vietnam is still developing, x byk bgnn besar n tinggi mcm kat kl tp da cukup memadai bg org kat sane n i am sure that someday they can beat us coz they are very commited to do their work n very hardworking. diorg tahu diorg susah tp it is not a lame reason to give up n end up being a beggar. diorg still bole survive even they just earn 10k vietnames dong (seringgit lebih duit malaysia) a day to make a living. tapi sikit2 pun lama2 jd bukit, kan? then, after 20 minutes we arrived at kingston hotel. its a 3 star hotel but yet very cozy n we stayed at the 9th floor. lepas unpacked my belongings, i decided that i had to have a nap for a while sbb mase tu pening kepala n it really kept me in agony n i refused to do anything but sleep. tp lps tu pakcik sorang ni which is my dad's friend yg ikut trip ni gave us a ring n asked us whether we wanted to go sightseeing around the town n we obliged. sy x jadi nak tidur n i had to use this opportunity to see the life of vietnamese n learn their culture (this is the number one rule if u r travelling abroad). we went to ben thanh market which is the most popular place to shop as they say it gives u the best price of stuff to purchase but actually it doesnt. harga brg kat sane pun lebih kurang kat malaysia n harga buah semuanye quite pricey. but u have to bargain n u can have the lowest price of stuff u want to buy. i didnt really enjoy shopping there. i just bought souvenir from my friends n mama beli kain utk baju raye kitorg utk tahun ni (tp sy da byk da kain n sy nak pkai kain vietnam tu utk th depan je la). that night, we had dinner at a muslim restaurant (i forgot the name) n the food was good. alhamdulillah ade jugak kedai mkn halal kat sini sebab x ramai org islam kat vienam.
the next day, we had breakfast at the hotel. kat meja tu ade jugak mknn yg x halal n we just took bread, pancakes, fruit n orange juice only tp sudah memadai utk mengisi perut. then, we had our first journey to go to Cu Chi Tunnels that took around 1 hour 20 minutes to go there. i think this was the most exciting place to visit sepanjang sy berada di sane sbb i was interested to get to know well about the war between vietnam n america. cu chi tunnels is a historic place for the local people especially for the soldiers to fight against the enemy (american soldiers) for saving the country. they built the tunnels to hide themselves from the enemy. i was given a chance to be in the tunnel for minutes n i considered myself lucky to feel the hurdle that they went through for years. i could not imagine they lived, ate, slept, n gave birth in that tunnel n my hair stood still n i was shivering to be there. agak seram sy rase sbb kat tmpt tu da ramai tentera mati around 11k ppl. tp sy sgt seronok dpt berjalan, merangkak dlm terowong tu. memang best. not to forget, they made weapons n trap using bamboo n stuff to attack the enemy. now i realized how smart n cunning they were at that time although they had some restraints on having hi-tech weapons n stuff like the americans had. i myself admit that the tunnels were undetectable to be recognized n i think that was a big victory for vietnamese. the americans might be physically fit with weapons n stuff, but the vietnamese were mentally fit with brilliant ideas to protect their country..bagi sy lebih baik kita bijak menggunakan akal fikiran dr hanya bergantung pada kekuatan fizikal semata2. dan sy rase sgt geram dgn amerika dan juga kuasa2 besar yg lain mcm israel yg dulu smpai skrg x henti2 menyeksa org palestin..bom yg digunakan oleh tentera amerika time perang vietnam tu bole bg effect kat diorg smpai 3 generasi sampai ade ibu mengandung yg terkena effect tu lahirkan anak cacat, ade kanser dan mcm2 lagi.
keesokan harinya, kitorg naik bot kat sg mekong. this is the biggest delta in SEA. i still remember when i was in junior high, i learned about mekong delta in geography though i sucked at it. nvr mind. time has passed n i learned that this delta is used by the local people to make a living by fishing, selling fruits on a boat, n so on. i really enjoyed being on a boat as the view really soothed my feeling.
n finally the last day on tour arrived dan kami berlepas dr saigon pd pukul 5 pm n sampai kl pd pkul 7. im gonna miss saigon so much as it taught me many things like being hardworking at work, determined to defeat somebody that threatens ur life n the most important thing is u have to believe in every potential u have inside as it can change the world n in the end, it makes you shine n people wont underestimate you like what did the local people achieve during the war time.
